First Donation, Surprising Source

In July, the Waldport Library Foundation received a donation from Rabbi Jeff and Mindy Glickman. This was totally unexpected, but gratefully accepted. Having never heard of Rabbi Jeff and Mindy, a Google search took place and led to an unusual and innovative kind of philanthropy. During the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they donated $100 to every single United Way (see this article from Logan County United Way), NPR radio station (like Prairie Public Radio in North Dakota), and ACLU affiliate in the country.

They then took to the road in their RV and did a 1200-mile tour of small communities meeting with people who they felt were working to make a difference. They are continuing to make small but significant contributions to organizations which they feel can help to improve the lives of everyone, and we were fortunately included.
